About Doors Open
The Northern Trails Historical Society is hosting our third annual Doors Open celebration in 2026.
Doors Open celebrates the built heritage in our Northeastern communities by encouraging participants to visit different historic buildings and tourism locations throughout the region at no charge. The program has continued to expand from there, bringing in other organizations and businesses to help support and take part.

HUDSON’S HOPE, BEAR FLAT, TUMBLER RIDGE
Join us in HUDSON’S HOPE, BEAR FLAT & TUMBLER RIDGE for an exciting July weekend and FREE ADMISSION at these amazing, must-see historical sites. The following locations, organizations and businesses are participating in the program and will offer free admission to their facilities as well as other unique events and opportunities.

Enjoy Free Admission at this amazing Museum! A full day of fun for the whole family! Learn more about the history of the Peace Valley, take a guided or self-guided museum tour, and guided tours of the St. Peter’s Church (TBD).

Enjoy FREE ADMISSION while you learn and explore, including guided gallery & collection tours, a Conuma Mine tour, explore the Dig Pit & Craft Station, and grab a TR Passport and get at least 3 stamps to be entered in a prize draw.
CONUMA COAL MINE TOUR

Enjoy this UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY to tour the Conuma Coal Mine! Tour guests can board the bus from the Dinosaur Discovery Gallery at 9:00am, and experience a tour of The Pit, the Maintenance Shop & Area, the ‘Fishbowl’, and more!
The tour is first-come first-served, so make sure you’re there!
