About Doors Open

The Northern Trails Historical Society is hosting our third annual Doors Open celebration in 2026.

Doors Open celebrates the built heritage in our Northeastern communities by encouraging participants to visit different historic buildings and tourism locations throughout the region at no charge. The program has continued to expand from there, bringing in other organizations and businesses to help support and take part.

  • June 13: Chetwynd

  • July 1: Fort Nelson
  • July 11: Fort St. John, Charlie Lake, Dawson Creek, Pouce Coupe

  • July 12: Dawson Creek

  • July 25: Hudson’s Hope, Bear Flat, W.A.C Bennett Dam Visitor Centre, Tumbler Ridge

  • August 2: Taylor

Be sure to visit our participating locations during their Doors Open dates – each community will have it’s own times through the summer! There are many events happening in our communities during these times, so make a day of it and join us!

TAYLOR, PEACE ISLAND PARK

Join us in TAYLOR for an exciting August weekend and FREE ADMISSION at these amazing, must-see historical sites. The following locations, organizations and businesses are participating in the program and will offer free admission to their facilities as well as other unique events and opportunities.
